Amal van Hees, Director,
Mrs. Van Hees is the Director of the GCC program at Bridging the Gulf, The Netherlands. She is a lawyer, graduated at Pantheon Assas University (Paris, France). Previously, she worked at Amnesty International Netherlands as a coordinator for the Middle East & North Africa region, and as Head of the Middle East department at the Mama Cash foundation. She is a former UNESCO staff member and served as a Program Officer at the International Organization for Migration (IOM). She has been teaching NGOs studies and capacity building at Webster University. As expert for the Middle East & North Africa region, Mrs. Van Hees has a long experience in working in the field of human rights, agency and participation, democracy, peace and security. She has participated in different international panels and debates, wrote different articles and conducted research, monitoring and evaluation in the field of NGOs work and civil society capacity building.
